Grab your huge 90’s cell phone, & call all your friends. Scully, Mulder, & the gang are coming back for a limited, six episode event series.
“I think of it as a 13-year commercial break.” said Chris Carter, returning executive producer/show creator. “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.” Chairmen Dana Walden and Gary Newman at FOX also voiced their excitement in a joint statement.
“We had the privilege of working with Chris on all nine seasons of ‘The X Files’ – one of the most rewarding creative experiences of our careers – and we couldn’t be more excited to explore that incredible world with him again”. They continued, “The X-Files was not only a seminal show for both the studio and the network, it was a worldwide phenomenon that shaped pop culture – yet remained a true gem for the legions of fans who embraced it from the beginning.”

While this is exciting, the selfish side of me won’t be satisfied until the list of writers rolls out. It wouldn’t be a true revival unless we get an episode from Darin Morgan, Glen Morgan, Howard Gordon, James Wong, & hell, hopefully Vince Gilligan will give us more of his magic. And let’s hope that they don’t stop there. Everyone at Frightday has their fingers crossed for a follow up feature to 2008’s The X-Files: I Want to Believe.
Production is set to begin this summer, but no airdate, or plot hints have been mentioned.
