A small-town sheriff is investigating a serial killer who hunts his victims for sport. When a former hunter suspects this same killer may have been responsible for his daughter’s disappearance, the two work together to hunt the hunter.
I wasn’t so sure I was interested in this film on the description alone, but the trailer promises a pretty thrilling game of cat and mouse. On first glance, I’m getting a sweet 80s, midwest, small-town vibe a la The Outsider or Fargo. But on that same note, the trailer is also rife with tropey dialogue and scenery. I’m also afraid that the trailer gives a bit too much of the film away. Regardless, I think The Silencing will surely make my anxious little heart race and as a stone cold true crime junkie, I’m looking forward to the hunt.
The Silencing will be available on DirecTV July 16th,
and in theaters and on VOD August 14th, 2020.
