After talented architect, Alex Reaves, achieves the impossible – transforming the long- abandoned Fairmont Meat Company slaughterhouse into the ultramodern high-tech Lofts – his family and tenants are faced with a deadly secret that’s patiently spent the past 30 years within the aged brick building.
There’s a mix of feelings with this trailer. On the one hand, parts of it look a touch too rote. On the other hand, there’s a neat layering of concepts, and an almost anachronistic haunting element. There’s nothing new about a haunted building, but by and large those buildings are decrepit or offbeat. Here we have a polished, seemingly new and ordinary apartment building. Hauntings don’t sit right in that setting, and it just may lend the movie a more original feel as a result.
The Charnel House will be in theaters and on VOD November 4th, 2016.
