A family live an isolated existence in utter silence, for fear of an unknown threat that follows and attacks at any sound.
With no dialogue, sparse sound effects, and a handful of ominous title cards this teaser for A Quiet Place makes a rather bold impression. It’s an imposing silence punctured by only the briefest of crashes. Even with the explanatory title cards, the set and props tell as much (if not more) of the story and the lack of subtitles over the sign language is perfectly disorienting for those without the knowledge. It’s a perfect tease for a movie just a few months out, and has me almost certainly planning to see the film opening night.
Written by longtime collaborators Bryan Woods and Scott Beck, A Quiet Place is directed by John Krasinski (The Office, Away We Go, 13 Hours). Alongside Krasinski is his wife, Emily Blunt (Sicario, Looper, The Girl on the Train), and newcomers Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds.
A Quiet Place is in theaters April 6th, 2018.
