In 1968, one of the deadliest serial killers in U.S. history disappeared without a trace. His identity and cryptic messages remained unsolved for decades…until now. After a fortune seeking couple uncover a forty-year-old film reel depicting two gruesome murders taken by the killer himself, they set out to solve the mystery and claim the $100,000 reward. But the situation quickly changes, as the hunters become the hunted.
As someone who has recently been working their way through Robert Graysmith’s non-fiction book Zodiac, this trailer for Awakening the Zodiac elicits much excitement. The plot of this film surrounds a plausible event: finding film footage of one or more murders committed by the elusive Zodiac. Profiled as a film buff, there is evidence to suggest there are or were film reels floating around of his murderous deeds.
Pairing early 2000s heartthrob Shane West with that-one-lady-who-is-in-everything Leslie Bibb, I already have a vested interested the protagonists. I’m willing to suspend my disbelief that the Zodiac could be “awakened” in this film because if he was still alive, he’d likely be in his 80s. Hoping the storyline doesn’t fly too far off the rails, I’m interested in seeing more information as it is released.
