Since nearly the start, Frightday’s writers have made it a point to do some special work around our favorite spooky month and we’re not about to let a pandemic stop us. We’ll be publishing more regularly, with a wider variety of topics covered, and perhaps a livestream or two. We’ve got a lot in the works that we’re excited about, and we hope you are too.
“We Just Call it Horror” (Oct 5-9)
Kicking things off is a celebration of Asian horror, as well as diaspora filmmakers and performers. We’ll be looking at our favorites from across the years, as well as their American remakes.
Family Frights (Oct 12-16)
Family Frights week is all about horror you can enjoy with people regardless of age or how strong their stomach is. We’re excited to shine a light on the variety of gateways into horror that are out there.
Evil Homes & Gardens (Oct 19-23)
For week three we’ll be focusing on haunted houses and–if we can find any–haunted gardens. We’ve talked about the occult and ghosts in years past, but this year we wanted to zero in on the home aspect.
I Think We’re Alone Now (Oct 26-30)
We couldn’t let October 2020 pass without dedicating some time to the too-true-to-life horror that is isolation and quarantine. This week is going to focus on genre films with strong themes of isolation and loneliness.
