The Bye Bye Man, made powerful by fear and belief, pits people against each other by getting into their heads and making them commit unspeakable acts. Anyone can be under his thrall and it seems that most violent, horrible crimes can be attributed to him. Everyone is suspect and no one is safe. Just from the trailer, the atmosphere is tense. The odds seem pretty stacked against these hapless young people considering the scope of the Bye Bye Man’s influence. The title character is only seen as a shadow, but I’m eager to see what Doug Jones does with the character. He never fails to make inhuman characters eerie and unforgettable.
