From producer James Wan and director David Sandberg, Lights Out promises to justify our fear of the dark.
When Rebecca (Teresa Palmer) left home, she thought that her childhood fears were behind her. As a young girl growing up, she was never really sure of what was real when the lights went out at night. Now, her little brother Martin (Gabriel Bateman) is experiencing the same unexplained and terrifying events that jeopardized her safety and sanity. Holding a mysterious attachment to their mother (Maria Bello), the supernatural entity has returned with a vengeance to torment the entire family.
Lights Out is an expansion of Sandberg’s short film of the same name, where a woman sees something creepy in the dark and resolves to keep the light on just before bed, but the creepy continues. The feature length version seems much more suspenseful and expands this simple idea into a full fledged story with abuse, possibly murder, a ghost, and the visceral terror of the dark.
Look for Lights Out in theaters July 22nd, 2016.
