Five interlocking tales of terror follow the fates of a group of weary travellers who confront their worst nightmares – and darkest secrets – over one long night on a desolate stretch of desert highway.
Southbound is another effort in anthology horror from the creators of the V/H/S series. I’ll say this, I’m intrigued. The trailer jumps around quite a bit and makes it difficult to pin down a plot, but what I did see hit a lot of familiar beats with travel horror. There’s isolation, accidents, strangers, and strangeness. But in an odd twist we’ve also got an element of the supernatural with several shots of a flying (and seemingly angry) skeleton. I’m not sure how that will all play together, but luckily we don’t need to wait long.
Southbound will receive a limited theatrical release on February 5, 2016, and a VOD release on the 9th.
