Is there anyone who didn’t fall in love with Maika Monroe as the heroine of It Follows? Director Roland Emmerich (2012, The Patriot, Day After Tomorrow, Stargate) has chosen Monroe as the female lead for the much-anticipated Independence Day 2, slated for release in June, 2016. She joins a cast that includes Charlotte Gainsbourg, Liam Hemsworth, and Jessie Usher in new roles, along with Jeff Goldblum & Bill Pullman, who will reprise their iconic roles from the franchise’s first film. In fact, Monroe is set to play the President’s (Bill Pullman’s) daughter. For those who can’t wait until next June for their Maika fix, keep your eyes peeled for The 5th Wave: a sci-fi thriller, coming January 2016, in which she will appear alongside Live Schreiber, Ron Livingston, and Chloe Grace Moritz.
