“When something sinister is awakened from a thousand year slumber, deep within the dark bog, the couple is faced with an unimaginable evil. They soon realize that light is their only protector, but as the sun sets and light sources dwindle, the creature becomes more powerful, and they are in a fight for their lives.
There is nothing to prepare you for the terror that will emerge from the dark.”
I mean…I feel pretty prepared. We’ve seen these themes before: the heavy-breathing/face away, eerily posed creep fingers, countryside car breakdowns. That being said, there are some extremely cool visuals in here. The use of light sources (matches, headlights, lamps, flashlights, flares) throughout is super effective. I’m hoping that Conor McMahon can tonally pull of something more serious than his last film Stitches, or else I’m afraid From the Dark will be just another jumpy runaround.
Available on VOD & DVD/Blu-ray April 14th.
