The poster art for Patrick Brice’s Creep was released today, as well as its release date of June 23rd exclusively on iTunes.
“Looking for work, Aaron comes across a cryptic online ad: “$1,000 for the day. Filming service. Discretion is appreciated.” Low on cash and full of naiveté he drives to a cabin in a remote mountain town where he meets Josef, his cinematic subject for the day. Josef is sincere and the project seems heartfelt, so Aaron begins to film. But as the day goes on, it becomes clear that Josef may not be who he says.”
I was lucky enough to catch a screening of this uniquely unsettling, & oddly dark film at SXSW 2014. Fans of mumblehorror/mumblegore films like A Horrible Way to Die, The Sacrament, 24 Exposures, or the V/H/S series will enjoy this thoroughly. Fans of The League…maybe…but probably not… There’s something intriguing about the simplicity of its concept that brings me back to the early (better) days of found footage.
According to an interview with Mark Duplass (The Lazarus Effect, The Puffy Chair, Togetherness) for Collider, this won’t be the last time we see the creep. RADiUS-TWC, the Duplass Brothers & Blumhouse Productions have already signed on to make it a trilogy.
“…yeah, I’m gonna be shooting the second Creep film at the end of the year and the cast will be revealed soon … I’m really excited about it because there’s a good chance that all three of them will release next year. We’re gonna try to line them all up.”
While this interview is from 2014, I’m still holding out hope.
