A zombie quarantine gets a bit too lenient, allowing Wade (Arnold Schwarzenegger) to hold onto his infected daughter Maggie,(Abigail Breslin of Zombieland, Haunter, the Call) for a little longer. When aggression & hunger build, so does pressure from authorities urging the father to “do the right thing”.
This is the directorial debut for Henry Hobson, who’s known primarily as a title sequence designer (The Walking Dead, The Last of Us, Fright Night, The Thing). Even with this lack of experience, Schwarzenegger seems satisfied saying, “I’m really proud of my new film, Maggie. This is the most human zombie film you’ve ever seen, and it’s the most human role you’ve ever seen me take on. My co-star, Abigail Breslin, is absolutely incredible in the title role, and our director, Henry Hobson, made a beautiful film.”
Although its hard to accept Schwarzenegger’s accent in this midwest setting, I’m cautiously excited for this film. Rarely do we get the opportunity to see an extended zombie transformation, let alone one being defended by the Terminator. Even though its PG-13 rating makes me uneasy, I’ll be in the theater on May 8th. Shushing middle-schoolers & getting the back of my seat kicked…
Available on VOD May 8th.
