From the beautiful minds of Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, we’ve been gifted this irreverent mockumentary following a group of vampires flatting together in New Zealand. Rhys Darby and Johnny Brugh round out the cast with some highly charismatic portrayals of fantastical characters. Genuine belly laughs and highly quotable lines abound with a viewing experience unparalleled by any horror comedy. Dry Flight of the Conchords wit, absurd dialogue, and outlandish physical comedy blend seamlessly to create an unexpectedly brilliant film. I could watch this movie on an endless loop and still laugh at every Deacon dance, “basghetti” scene, and “werewolves not swearwolves” mention.
