If horror has taught me anything, it’s that you should never trust an attractive stranger. Colin O’Donoghue’s performance in this film has placed him among the ranks of Dan Stevens (The Guest) and Jason Sudeikis (Colossal), actors I will never trust again following their respective roles in horror. While not an entirely original premise, the setting is uniquely intriguing. This take on the post-apocalyptic genre leaves the nature of the inciting incident purposefully vague, and instead focuses on the factions of survivors left behind in the wake of this unnamed tragedy. O’Donoghue’s subtle character switch is all too terrifyingly real and is matched only by Lulu Antariska’s compelling portrayal of our resilient protagonist. If dystopian alt-reality is your jam, don’t skip this one.
