Whenever an actor I enjoy is cast in the role of “creepy cultist” (which happens more often than you might think), my first reaction is “uh oh.” This is no exception. Michiel Huisman goes from benevolent shepherd to wrathful tyrant in a flash, and it is truly chilling. Every time his frame was shown silhouetted in a doorway or window, I felt compelled to burrow under blankets. Alongside Huisman, Raffey Cassidy delivered a performance beyond her years. I don’t think I chanted “kill him” at any character quite as frequently as I did in this instance. The serene setting starkly contrasts with the situation at hand, lending itself to an atmosphere of disquieting dissonance throughout the film. With an ending that truly satisfies, The Other Lamb is a compelling reason to remain self-isolated.
