The Mind’s Eye is a prime example of why people with superpowers should keep their gifts to themselves. When word spreads of Zack and Rachel’s psychokinetic abilities, Dr. Slovak makes it his mission to imprison them and harvest their powers. The film features plenty of head-exploding, axe-chopping, needle-stabbing gore effects and a very 90’s soundtrack that makes you feel as if you’re watching a documentary about outer space in middle school science. The fight sequences can get somewhat repetitive, especially considering most of the fighting takes place within the mind. There’s a bit of a cheese factor in that sense, which requires some suspension of disbelief. But if you’re up for an over-the-top, mind-bendy action film with plenty of blood and explosions, check out The Mind’s Eye on August 5th.
