The Girl in the Photographs is director Nick Simon’s crime horror/thriller in which a small town girl is tormented by mysterious photos of brutally murdered women left practically at her doorstep. With the local PD telling her not to worry, she’s left to wonder, is this a sick prank, or something much more terrifying? My only real criticism of this otherwise decent flick is, while I can certainly appreciate comedic relief, I felt it was used a bit too heavy-handedly, and, as a result, took away from that feeling of dread in instances where it should’ve been emphasized rather than downplayed. As the final film that producer Wes Craven was involved in before he passed away, look out for the title card reading “For Wes” that rolls before the credits when The Girl in the Photographs is released on April 1st 2016.
