The tale of two hitchhikers who must survive potentially deadly encounters with a mysterious married couple and a rogue serial killer with a taste for road kill. This film is definitely a slow burn, but for me, the building anticipation never leads up to much of a climax. While the mystery/thriller elements are certainly there, the obvious red herrings and confusing character motives failed to distract from the film’s predictable conclusion. What I can say about the film is that it was beautifully shot, and the discordant score created a great sense of tension and unease. And undeniably, scream queen Barbara Crampton is a treat for old-school horror fans.
