After a night out, Deb finds herself in Ryan’s apartment… at the start of a zombie apocalypse. Night of the Living Deb is a horror romantic comedy that leans a little harder on the laughs than the gore, but no mistake, both make an appearance. It’s one of the strengths of Deb, that it keeps a foot in each camp. Tropes from both genres are cleverly toyed with, and the narrative glides pretty smoothly between the two. The humor is certainly a bit on the goofy side and won’t be for everyone, but it’s contrasts neatly with the hellish scenario. It’s a movie that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and it’s better for it. Knowing exactly what it is lends the film a certain charming confidence. Night of the Living Deb may be light on scares, but it’s still a perfectly good popcorn movie to watch with friends.
