San Francisco, fall of 1986, a rash of teenage murders goes unsolved and the only witness to these gruesome acts is Natalie…your typical 80’s virginal slasher survivor. Who are the killers? They are mutants or monsters, each with their own shtick…kind of like Hellraiser’s Cenobites mixed with the Garbage Pail Kids. We never learn why they are here, who they are, or why water…yes, everyday water can destroy them. They look rad and make for a fun group of killers, but unlike other 80’s slashers, there aren’t over the top kills. These are just fine. This isn’t great…Neon Maniacs should be watched in a group setting to enjoy the absurdity that unravels from the get-go. I’m actually surprised this wasn’t spun off to a slew of sequels featuring the ridiculous themed killers. Reboot?

POS
Interesting idea to have multiple monsters
I love it when films include characters who know horror as a genre
Water gun action
NEG
Zero plot
Poor character development
Odd pacing
