Not in recent memory have I seen a movie of any genre that kept me as engaged–from opening to closing credits–as It Follows. By capturing a sort of modern nostalgia, the film transports us back to days of classic horror, but with a completely engaging & new story. The music alone creates anticipation, urgency, & chaos that only heighten the visuals, which are in turn built of nothing but thoughtful & atmospheric shots. The result is an authentic, suspenseful voice & immersive experience. It Follows delivers fear through artistry rather than jump scares, which is refreshing. By the end, it’s clear we’ve witnessed a classic, a new classic, executed in an utterly captivating manner. And the soundtrack is a must-own for adding 80’s atmospheric thriller vibes to those late-night rainy walks.
