A man searches the lake for the monster that murdered his husband, while that monster falls in love with an unsuspecting visitor.
Folk tales can be delicate. While a melancholic score, sweeping shots of fog rolling over lonely hillscapes, and villagers frightened by an unseen terror are a must, there’s still plenty to flesh out in between. Unfortunately, this is often where folk horror falls short. That said, I have the highest hopes for this project, which is brought to us by the team behind indie gem They Look Like People. For that film alone, I trust them implicitly. The Siren is part love-story, part grim fairy tale, all atmosphere. I truly can’t wait to experience this dreamy siren song.
