Monster Party, an upcoming horror/thriller from RLJE Films (Mandy, Galveston, Bone Tomahawk), is another take on the opposite of a home invasion film. A home…escaping film? Somewhat resembling films such as Don’t Breathe, Bad Samaritan, and The Belko Experiment, Monster Party follows a group of young adults that work for a catering company. They are hired to work a private event in a lavish Malibu mansion. However, while trying to rob a safe within the home, it triggers an emergency lockdown procedure, leaving the would-be thieves fighting for their lives just to escape to safety.
Viewing the trailer, we see a wide array of weapons being used, a decent amount of blood, and an overall chaotic, non-stop pace and editing style. The cast is full of actors whose names you may not recognize, but will think “Ohh, it’s that person” when seeing them on screen. One of them that I’m looking forward to watching is Brandon Michael Hall, the extremely charming and charismatic lead in ABC’s failed comedy series, The Mayor. The trailer is promising, the cast looks fun, and the company releasing it has a very solid track record.
Take a seat at the dinner table, and see if you can make it out alive.
