A young woman, played by Maika Monroe, is being watched, stalked, and followed everywhere she goes. No, I am not talking about It Follows…but the upcoming IFC Midnight thriller, Watcher.
Julia (Maika Monroe) is a young American woman who moves to Bucharest with her boyfriend after his new job offer. Being in a new country, with no friends, work, or hobbies, she spends her days inside her gorgeous apartment and walking around town. However, she thinks she notices a nosy neighbor looking at her through his window. Which then turns into thinking she sees someone looking at her at the movies, while shopping around town, etc. Is it all in her head? Is it a legitimate threat? Is she a woman spiralling into madness, or in actual trouble?
Watcher premiered earlier this year at Sundance, where it was acquired by IFC Midnight and Shudder. It’s the directorial debut of Chloe Okuno, who directed the “Storage Drain” segment of V/H/S 94. The limited cast includes the wonderful Maika Monroe, Karl Glusman, and the extremely talented Burn Goman.
It will be hitting theaters June 3rd.
(And spoilers…this movie rules and you will want to see it)
