A group of young friends team up to save their ever-changing neighborhood from a new, invasive demographic. Vampires vs. The Bronx is a horror comedy, with a little snarky commentary on the growing issue of gentrification of beloved neighborhoods.
The trailer gives you that 80s, Stand by Me vibe, and follows four brave neighborhood rascals who seem to be the only people aware of the neighborhood problem. I have to say, I’m not tired of this format yet, and the swap of hip hop in the place of 80s synth is refreshing. I’m optimistic about the casting, as Jaden Michael (Dora the Explorer), Gerald Jones II (Blue Bloods), and Gregory Diaz (New Amsterdam) all seem to have excellent on-screen chemistry. Most notably, Coco Jones (Good Luck Charlie) already shines in the trailer. As with all horror comedies, I’m prepared for a bit of hamfisted humor, but overall the film seems to lean lighthearted and I’m sure it’ll do anything but suck.
