A robbery turns into a rescue when Mickey and Jules find a young child chained up in the basement of a suburban home. When the homeowners finally return, our lovebirds soon discover that this isn’t even their darkest secret.
At times, Villains feels more romance than horror, and I found myself relieved at campy moments if it meant Mickey and Jules weren’t wasting precious getaway time making out. But the film does a great job of character-building on top of an already phenomenal cast, and making you question, ‘what is a villain, really?’. And while the trailer proved to be scarier than the film, the fun aesthetic, comedy and thrills make Villains a must-see.
